Interested in joining the IVFD? 

Whether you do it for the excitement, tradition, or sense of family, when you answer the call to be a volunteer firefighter, you become an invaluable member of your community.

The first step is to fill out an application!

Come up on Monday night at 7 PM and fill out an application, or stop in between 8 AM and 5 PM Monday through Friday.

Firefighter Requirements:

  • Satisfactory background check

  • Current resident of Ida Township, or one of the neighboring communities that border Ida Township

  • Attendance of monthly training

  • Possess Firefighter and Medical First Responder certification within two years, provided by the department

MINIMUM TRAINING TO BE A CERTIFIED FIREFIGHTER:

- Firefighter I & II ..............................227 Hours

- Hazmat OPS ....................................24 Hours

- Drivers Training ...............................10 Hours

- NIMS for Fire Service .....................16 Hours

- Medical First Responder .............90 Hours

ADDITIONAL TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES:

- EMT-B ..............................................266 Hours

- EMT-P ..............................................1200 Hours

- Company Officer ..............................80 Hours

- Fire Officer III .................................54.5 Hours

- NIMS 300 ...........................................24 Hours

- NIMS 400 ..........................................20 Hours
